Malakia FC Appoints New Head Coach

His first game at the helm of Malakia FC will be against another struggling club Munuki FC who parted ways with the head coach on Tuesday.

Malakia Football Club – Juba has appointed current U-23 and U-20 national team coach Simon James as the replacement of Mohamed Adam as the club head coach.

Mohamed Adam departed the club last month after the board decided to relieve him of his duties as a result of poor performance by the team.

Simon James has penned a four-month contract with the club till the end of the ongoing Juba local league where the team has had mixed results so far.


First on the table of the new coach is ensuring he improves results for Malakia FC who sits 6th on the table standing. The club has collected 16 points from their 11 games played.

The club has five wins, five losses and two draws out of the 12 games played in the league. They have managed to score eight goals and conceded ten goals so far this season.

Under his stewardship, Simon James guided South Sudan national U-23 team to victory over the Uganda Kobs the first-ever win South Sudan has had and against the Ugandan side.

He also guided the national U-20 team to a quarterfinal stage at last year’s CECAFA U-20 championship in Uganda where the team lost 1-0 to Sudan.

Mr. Simon was also in charge of the national women’s team which took part in the CECAFA women’s team in Tanzania.

Before joining Malakia FC Simon has been without a club after leaving Amarat United as head coach.
