Golden Brains Academy wins Juba Secondary Schools Mini Competition

Golden Brains Academy triumphed in the inaugural Juba Secondary Schools Mini Spelling Bee, Speed Challenge Quiz, Speech, and Academic Debate Competition, besting Elite High School in the Grand Finale.

Golden Brains Academy has won the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan-run pilot Juba Secondary Schools Mini Spelling Bee, Speed Challenge Quiz, Speech, and Academic Debate Competition,” the school announced on its Facebook page.

Golden Brains Academy emerged victorious against Elite High School in the Grand Finale held at the Juba Teacher Training Center Main Hall on Thursday, July 4, 2024.


Elite High School received a score of 43.31% after a 15-point deduction from its initial 58.31% for late arrival. Meanwhile, Golden Brains Academy scored a 59.67% average percentage.

During her keynote speech, Excellence Foundation for South Sudan board member Modong Viola Lino expressed appreciation for the efforts of those involved. “I take this opportunity to appreciate all the hard work that has gone into making today possible,” she said. “From the dedicated teachers to our project staff and the student participants, thank you for your commitment.”

Lino emphasized the value of competition beyond its academic aspects. “These competitions are more than just contests,” she said. “They foster growth, learning, and friendships.”

The JSSMC Grand Finale brought together 210 teachers, pupils, and students from 11 secondary and primary schools in Juba. The event included speeches, performances, and a panel discussion.
