Fifteen children die from heat-related diseases in South Sudan
On Friday, Minister of Information and Government Spokesperson, Michael Makuei, disclosed to journalists in Juba that fifteen children have tragically lost their lives due to heat-related causes.
The announcement comes amidst extreme heat conditions sweeping across the country. Minister Makuei also stated that the government is contemplating the temporary closure of schools if these severe conditions persist.
Earlier in the week, the Ministry of Environment issued a notice urging the public to take precautionary measures as temperatures soar to unprecedented levels.
Forecasts predict temperatures ranging between 41 and 45 degrees Celsius in Juba and various parts of the country over the next two weeks.
