Kiir leaves for Dubai

President Salva Kiir Mayardit left this morning to take part in the Dubai Expo 2020 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to the Presidency, President Kiir was invited by the Government of UAE and he is expected to also hold several bilateral discussions besides attending the expo.

This is the first time the President is taking part in such an expo.

“H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit is being accompanied by a delegation comprising of Presidential Advisor on Security Affairs Hon. Tut Gatluak Manime, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mayiik Ayii Deng, Minister of Finance and Planning Hon. Agak Achuil Lual, Minister of Culture, Museums and National Heritage, Hon. Nadia Arop Dudi Mayom, Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism, Hon. Rizik Zackariah Hassan, Director General of General Intelligence Bureau, Gen. Simon Yien Makuac,”said the Presidency.

The President was seen off at Juba International Airport by the First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny and a number of government officials.

Expo 2020 Dubai will be the first World Expo ever hosted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region under the theme of Connecting Minds, Creating the Future. It aims to inspire people by showcasing the best examples of collaboration, innovation and cooperation from around the world.

World Expos are one of the oldest and largest international events on the planet, taking place every five years and lasting six months. It is a festival for all, where everyone can experience, explore, innovate and have fun by sharing ideas and working together.
