President Salva Kiir has sacked the Nile Petroleum Corporation (NilePet) Managing Director Machar Achiek on Monday. Machar was replaced with James Mathiang Thelweng as the new Managing Director of the state-owned oil company.

Machar Achiek was appointed as the state’s oil firm head in November 2015. The new managing director will also serve as the Secretary to the Nilepet Board of Directors.
