The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) is challenging United Nations and other International Community to conduct a joint fact-finding mission on atrocities allegedly committed by the army in Equatoria region.

SPLA Spokesman, Brigadier General Lul Ruai Koang told journalists on Friday that the army is ready to support a fact-finding mission in the country.

“The army is warning the international community against issuing ‘ false statements’ against South Sudan”, General Ruai says.

The spokesman says the army has the right and capacity to protect its citizens from internal or foreign aggression.

A recent report indicated that government and opposition forces destroyed about one thousand five hundred huts in Yei town.
